Zoe (ΖΩΕ) is the New Testament Greek word for life. At Zoe, our philosophy is simple: We want to know God's Word, and experience true life.
We are a new church focusing on the cities of North Dallas such as Plano, Allen, McKinney, and Frisco. We hope to be a church that shares the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ with our friends and neighbors. We also want to explore from the Bible how this gospel message has the power to change how we live. We believe that church should be a community that is committed to following Jesus, and committed to one another.
Here are the values we believe in:
We believe that the good news of Jesus Christ is central in the life of every believer and believing community (1 Cor 15:1-4)
We believe that we are created to worship, and to find joy and satisfaction in Christ. As Christians, all we do should be done to the glory of God and the praise of his Name (Col 3:17; 1 Cor 10:31)
We believe in the priority of the church, the community of believers, and our God-given responsibility to one another (Col 3:12-14; Heb 10:24-25)
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that it alone is our foundation for faith and practice. Therefore we are committed to expository preaching and biblical counseling (2 Pet 1:20-21; 2 Tim 3:16-17)
We believe that God hears and answers prayer and that apart from him we can do nothing (Psalm 27:8; 1 Thess 5:16-18)
We believe that God has called us to be lights in the world pointing others to Jesus Christ (Matt 28:18-20; Rom 1:16)
Here are the leaders who share in their responsibility as pastors/elders of our church:
Eric is married to his wife Tritia and they have 3 young children. He is a graduate of the Masters Seminary, and oversees church administration as well as our kids and youth ministries.
James heads up our worship gatherings at Zoe, including the Sunday Service and musical ministries. He is married to Stephanie and they have one son. James' day job is IT consulting.
Jesse is the primary teaching pastor for Zoe Community Church. He is a graduate of the Masters Seminary and also has received a degree in Biblical Counseling. He is married to Christine, and they have one daughter.
Here's the story behind why we planted a church in Allen, TX:
Zoe is a non-denominational church plant of Lighthouse Community Church in Torrance, CA. We had been praying about planting a church for about a year when Toyota announced that it would be moving its corporate offices from Torrance, CA (suburb of Los Angeles) to Plano, TX (suburb of Dallas), and our leadership began to pray about a possible ministry there.
We met and talked with local churches in the North Dallas area to see what the spiritual climate was. Even though there are many churches and Dallas is part of the "Bible Belt," these pastors shared with us the need for more gospel-centered ministry and ministry that focused on the heart. Their burden was for the thousands of people who lived in this Christian-saturated area who had never personally responded to the gospel of Jesus Christ. And the number is only increasing.
The Dallas Metroplex, and North DFW in particular, is growing fast. Various companies and other factors will bring many newcomers to the area in the coming years, and naturally there will be many who come to Dallas and do not know Jesus. We saw an opportunity to be here, to welcome transplants and to show them the love and hospitality of Christ and share the message of the gospel. We also saw an opportunity to provide a home for those who might be looking for a new church family.
We made the commitment to move from California to Texas in the beginning of 2015, and by God's grace Zoe Community Church officially launched in Allen on May 1, 2016.
